Lost in the Desert Sky: A Tribute to Mohammad-Reza Shajarian by Kayhan Kalhor Ensemble
Vaak Records and Art Stage proudly present the Kayhan Kalhor Ensemble on November 15, 2024, at the Southbank Centre in London.
In this concert, the acclaimed Iranian kamancheh virtuoso and composer Kayhan Kalhor will unveil Lost in the Desert Sky, a heartfelt tribute to the legendary Iranian singer Mohammad-Reza Shajarian, who passed away in 2020.
The title of this new work pays homage to the 2000 album Night, Silence, Desert, a celebrated collaboration between Shajarian, Kalhor, and other luminaries of Iranian music.
Crafted during the COVID pandemic, Lost in the Desert Sky invites listeners to delve into the rich musical and poetic heritage of Khorasan, inspired by the classical poetry of Saadi Shirazi. The performance will also feature a host of talented young musicians, alongside vocalist Hadi Hosseini, a former student of the late master. Join us for an unforgettable evening of profound artistry and cultural celebration!
